Reports have claimed Manchester United ‘will sign’ Portugal International Joao Cancelo in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old, who is currently enjoying an excellent spell at Inter Milan on loan from Valencia, has emerged as a possible target for Jose Mourinho’s men.
Cancelo has been a regular fixture in the side this term and his impressive performances in Serie A have earned rave reviews from around Europe.
It was reported the Italians were hopeful of securing a permanent deal for the Portugal international but be disappointed as he is set for a move to Old Trafford, according to the Daily Express.
It is claimed there will be a merry go around in the summer, which will see Matteo Darmian join Juventus in the summer, and that will free up Kwadwo Asamoah to join Inter Milan, meaning Cancelo heads to Old Trafford.
Mourinho and Cancelo share the same agent, Jorge Mendes, which could prove effective in ensuring efficient negotiations.
The Premier League giants also have the financial resources to comfortably meet Valencia’s £30m valuation of the defender in the summer.
With Ashley Young coming to the end of his playing career and Antonio Valencia the only world class wing-back, Mourinho is desperate to improve at the back and knows spending wisely will be better than spending on quantity.
