Jose Mourinho has been a divisive figure amongst the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern, with the Portuguese rarely one to make everyone happy.
At Chelsea, for example, his lack of focus on youth and the increasingly frustrated figure that he cut on the sidelines was a problem, and at Man Utd, it has been no different, with fans frustrated with his style of football in particular.
Naturally, then, most things that the manager does are met with some form of frustration amongst fans, but what he did last night at the Man Utd end of season awards has been received very well amongst nearly every single supporter, it seems.
On a night where the biggest and the best players in the Man Utd squad were to be celebrated, Mourinho added his own flair to one of the awards – the Manager’s Player of the Year Award – as only he can.
Though expected to go to one of Man Utd’s outstanding players, like Nemanja Matic, David De Gea or Jesse Lingard, Mourinho in fact selected young Scott McTominay.

McTominay has, of course, risen to prominence this season after being promoted to the first team by Mourinho, and though not yet a regular in the team, the young midfielder has looked good.
The decision has gone down very well with the Man Utd fans over on Reddit, with supporters toasting to the creative nature of the move, whilst they’re also noting that the award counters the so-called myth that Mourinho doesn’t develop young players.
