José Mourinho Convinced He’s Found Cristiano Ronaldo Replacement For Manchester United

Tirelessly searching Europe for the perfect no. 7 replacement is not an easy task, such as what is going on at United.

The iconic number last worn by Real Madrid playmaker Cristiano Ronaldo still hangs loosely with no right fit.

However, perhaps, United will search no further. January signing Alexis Sanchez may finally delivered in the shirt.

Sanchez scored 30 goals in all competitions for Arsenal last term, before forcefully demanding he wants game time elsewhere.

United were determined to put him off his woes at the Emirates and worked hard to make his move to Old Trafford successful.

But he has since plummeted from the vintage performer he was known for at the Gunners.

For most part of the second half of last season, Sanchez was shaky on the pitch, springing up second thoughts of whether the 29-year-old Chilean’s arrival is not a bad omen for the Red Devils.

Nevertheless, manager Mourinho is not ready to dash his hopes in the former Barcelona man, one of the reasons he rewarded him the no. 7 shirt.

He has attributed Sanchez’s short stint of misfortune last term to fatigue.

Sanchez competed in two Copa Americas, one World Cup and the Confederations Cup in the past four summers, which is enough to explain the frustration in his inability to deliver last term.

Since Chile are not in this World Cup, it will give the frontman enough time to re-strategise and eventually score more goal than his meagre three goals in 18 appearances.
