Bye, Bye Bye Manchester United as stopper announces ‘it’s time to leave’ Old Trafford

Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has opened up and admitted his time at Manchester United may be coming to an end at the end of the season.

Johnstone was signed by United when he was 10, but has never made a competitive appearance for the club and has been sent out ten times on loan with seven different clubs.

And the 25-year-old, who is currently at Championship side Aston Villa, has admitted that this may be the time to finally leave old Trafford, although he will be disappointed to never feature for the Red Devils on the biggest stage.

He was quoted on Sky Sports: “If you leave, then the one downside is that you haven’t done that despite being there since you were 10.

“I’d have liked to have done it. But you’ve got the world’s best goalkeeper, David de Gea, at the club and you can’t wait around forever.”

With world class stopper David De Gea, Argentine International Sergio Romero and one of the most talented young Goalkeepers in Europe Joel Castro Pereira all part of Jose Mourinho’s squad this season, it would be very difficult to see where and if Johnstone would get a chance to play in a competitive game for United.

But after impressing at Villa, he will have no shortage of suitors and will not look to make a name for himself away from Old Trafford.
