Premier League giants and fifth-place finishers Chelsea are set to enter the chase for Poland international and Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandoski who is valued at £80 million.
Doubts have risen over his future at the Bavarian club and it is believed he wants out of Bayern following a misunderstanding with coach Jupp Heyneckes.
The 29-year-old looks ready to leave the German outfit after making an official announcement suggesting his time was up at the club.Confirming the player’s claims, his agent Pini Zahavi feels he needs a new career change and a new challenge.
Zahavi was quoted as saying: “Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career. The managers of Bayern know about it.”Zahavi is also convinced his player will attract the top clubs with his wealth of experience on the field of play.
“His reasons are not money or a specific club, as nearly all top clubs would like to have the world’s best striker in their ranks.” The agent continued, “Every one of the Bayern leadership had great careers themselves. They should understand his situation.”
According to Express, Zahavi has strong ties with Stamford Bridge, especially with owner Roman Abramovich. It is believed this places the Blues ahead in the competition for the highly rated star.
However, there are speculations his price tag could prove to be a problem for the former Premier League champions. With more than 40 goals in all competitions in each of the last three seasons, Robert Lewandoski will not be short of suitors.
